Holy Week<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In Holy Week we think about the passion, death, and resurrection of Our Lord. We are not merely recalling historical events. We are not just re-enacting a pagean with no meaning. We are remembering and reflecting on these events in order that we may ourselves participate in the work of Christ. Our Lord was offering himself to God his Father, offering his love which he expressed through obedience \u2013 an obedience which included the acceptance of death. At the same time, he was passing through death to life so that you and I might share in his risen life.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have to be involved in the offering of love which Christ made on the cross. In the sacrifice of the Mass we are provided with that opportunity. Through the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, we receive the risen life of Christ; indeed, in Holy Communion we receive the very author of that life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our chief thought on Maundy Thursday is the institution of the Mass. On Good Friday we think of the offering of Our Lord made of himself to his heavenly Father. On Holy Saturday we think of that risen life in which we share. In a sense, every time the Mass is celebrated, Holy Week is contained in its entirety.<\/span><\/p>\n

I den stille uke tenker vi p\u00e5 V\u00e5r Herres lidelse, d\u00f8d og oppstandelse. Vi minnes ikke kun historiske begivenheter. Vi gjenkaller ikke bare en hendelse uten mening. Vi husker og reflekterer over disse hendelsene for at vi selv skal kunne delta i Kristi frelsesverk. V\u00e5r Herre ofret seg selv til Gud, sin Far, og tilb\u00f8d sin kj\u00e6rlighet, noe som han uttrykte gjennom lydighet – en lydighet som innebar \u00e5 godta at Han m\u00e5tte d\u00f8d. Samtidig gikk han gjennom d\u00f8den til livet, slik at du og jeg kunne f\u00e5 del i hans oppstandelse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vi m\u00e5 ta del i kj\u00e6rlighetsofferet som Kristus ga p\u00e5 korset. I messeofferet f\u00e5r vi den muligheten. Gjennom sakramentene, spesielt nattverden, mottar vi Kristi oppstandne liv; ja, i nattverd mottar vi selve dette livets opphav.<\/span><\/p>\n

V\u00e5r hovedtanke p\u00e5 skj\u00e6rtorsdag er innstiftelsen av messen. P\u00e5 langfredag \u200b\u200btenker vi p\u00e5 at V\u00e5r Herre ofret seg selv til sin himmelske Far. P\u00e5 p\u00e5skeaften tenker vi p\u00e5 det oppstandne livet vi deler. Hver gang messen feires, inneholder den p\u00e5 en m\u00e5te den stille uke i sin helhet.<\/span><\/p>\n
